What does "Racism and Sexism" Really Mean?

At the SAG Awards, Hollywood's most masturbatory event, the cast of The Help won for best ensemble. The Help, based on a book of the same name, tells the story of some racist white people in 1960's Mississippi. Blah blah, Oprah liked it, who cares. From what I gather, the book details how racist white people and magic, sagacious Negro maids came to understand each other, but mostly just one way in that regard. You see why it was such a big hit with Oprah nation?

So anyway, one of the colored maids gets up n stage at the SAG Awards and gushes about her co-stars. At the end of her mawkish speech at 1:11, she offers this "wisdom", followed by predictable applause from the crowd:
The stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color or women. It’s all of our burden. All of us,” she said. “And I don’t care how ordinary you may feel. All of us can inspire change. Every single one of us.”
We see this sort of rhetoric on an almost daily basis. It appears in essentially every single avenue of life and now even entire towns have adopted it as sort of an official creed. Let me generalize Ms. Davis' statements above:
Racism exists. Sexism exists. And these insidious forces are keeping People of Color and women from achievement. There is outright and institutional racism whereby minorities and women can not rise in society due to bias against their doing so.
While leftists have no problem smearing even milquetoasts like the current crop of Republican candidates, they do mostly speak in vague terms. In non-peer company, such as an awards show, they use the passive voice, as if to disassociate the nefarious actions from the actors. By not fingering a particular group, the left can put forth the message without causing too much controversy.

But (and I can't believe this is the first time I've thought of this) think about what Ms. Davis is really saying. She proposes that racism and sexism not only exist as mental bias, but that these biases have had a practical impact. And for something to manifest as a social phenomenon, we need social actors. Now one could argue that leftists ascribe these biases to unconscious habits, but let's be real here.

Let me make this very clear - whenever a media personality, talking head, or intellectual condemns racism and sexism in America, they really mean:
White men are a racist and sexist class who deliberately impede the progress of women and minorities. White men have constructed and continue to maintain a radically unfair society that, at its heart, is built on racial and gender antagonism. White men do not deserve what they have; they have only accomplished so much because they have artificially propped themselves up as a group. White men have privileged themselves, unaware that their collective and individual accomplishments are merely the result of racial and gender nepotism. White men are inherently evil due to their unrepentant oppression of women and minorities.
I repeat - if racism and sexism exists, then who are we to presume is perpetrating it. Vague allusions to "racism" and "sexism" are barely disguised condemnations of white men, simple as that.

A few days ago, frequent commenters PA and nikcrit got into an argument about a white equivalent to "nigger." I agreed with nikcrit in that no term exists which devalues a white person to moral nothingness merely on the account of race. However, our entire cultural, social, and political edifice engages in the same sort of moral debasement of white men. In regards to intent, our entire culture is repeatedly calling white men "niggers". Ms. Davis' statement about racism and sexism can only be interpreted as a condemnation of white men, as white men. Movies (Red Tails), commercials (another example), and TV shows (According to Jim and Everybody Loves Raymond) uniformly depict white men as stupid, irresponsible, and evil. And in politics, not even the Tea Party and Mitt Romney can escape charges of racism for their passive, implicit whiteness. Whites may shrug off "cracker", but we live in a society where white men are considered to inherit an original sin and routinely attacked as evil.

And yet individuals like Ms. Davis get away with it because no one makes the very simple logical leap to understand who she's actually talking about.

Off topic comment regarding the random insight:
"I need to learn how to make tasty low carb treats, like pancakes and brownies. Hardest part: buying all the damn ingredients."

Pancakes are very easy in my experience. The recipe I use is two eggs per person, a chunk of melted butter, flour until the mix gets thick, milk until it gets thin again. Adjust to taste (there's no shame in frying a pancake, finding it's too thin, and adding more flour to the mix before frying the next one).

That's four ingredients.

racism and sexism means reality; the reality of differences between the races and sexes; that those differences are quantifiable; those differences matter and that we are not equal in ability.

being a racist/ sexist is accepting demonstrable reality

She probably doesn't realize it, but this is religious talk. Contemporary anti-racism has this very feminine, mystical/spiritual element to it.

"Racist" does exactly that -- that word devalues a white person to moral nothingness merely on the account of race. The white men shot by Omar Thornton were devalued to moral nothingness in news reports because Thornton's relative said they were "racist."

Just as a black person had an out from being a "nigger" by acting responsible, polite and deferential ("there is a black man and there is a nigger"), so does a white person find an out from presumption of racist by being meek and politically correct.

Whenever someone around you says the word "racist", whether in reference to you or not, he's calling you an Untermensch, a subhuman, someone with no right to exist, a nigger.

Lucille said...

Technically, that's incorrect: his victims were investigated for "racism" but officially cleared. But the mentality is certainly there.

Lara said...

If you have ever been called a racist, you will realize how hurtful it can be. I am a fair person, who judges people by their character and behavior. To have someone call you a racist is like saying you have no character or soul. I'd much rather be called low class due to some behavior I can change.

Blacks use the word 'racist' to keep white people in an inferior position to them.

"Racism" is essentially believing in your right to exist. In effect, the biggest "racists" are SWPLs, whose entire life's work is an effort to prevent their own africanization, culturally, genetically.

Given that we live under a political arrangement wherein open assertions to that end are met with irresistible force, SWPLs adopt a mask of "antiracism." They preach but don't practice. Moreso: they believe, but don't practice. The mask is *that* good.

You want to know what anti-racism, in effect, looks like? It looks like whiggers and mudsharks. Anti-racism looks like white trash.

Heliogabalus said...

A possibility: if white racism is seen as something incurable and endemic to whites, then eventually, white people will say "OK, I'll just go ahead and be racist, then."

To the objections of "anti-racists," they can say: "We've merely decided to be what we are - what you have said a million times that we are and can't stop being. We are being true to ourselves, just like you oppressed people of color are being true to yourselves."

This is especially likely to happen as the white population shrinks. After all, if whites are just another minority, they should be treated as one, right? The consequences of this acceptance will be interesting.

The Help was a book about class placement and warfare between the classes. Nothing more, nothing else. I've lived in Europe, South America and Southwest Asia. You can hear similar stories from the serving class in each country.

Heck, Waiter Rant is The Help set in 20th century New York City.

That's why all this race stuff is nonsense, and overblown.

This is what 'racism' and 'sexism' SHOULD mean.

Ism means belief. So, 'racism' or 'race-ism'should mean 'belief in races and possibly racial differences'.
And 'sexism' should belief in the reality of the sexes and sexual differences.

I don't see why 'race-ism' should mean 'hatred of other races' or 'racial supremacism'. 'Ism' doesn't mean any of that.
The problem isn't race-ism or sexism but radical racism or fundamentalist sexism. Radical racism is something like Nazism that had very narrow and purist notions of race. Fundamentalist sexism is something like the Taliban where all women must dress and act in a certain way, and that's that.

But in modern society, we should be able to be rational race-ists facing the truths about race and rational sexists who recognize the biological differences between men and women. After all, the fact that men can't have kids is a sexist fact. Does that mean they are oppressed by sexism? No, it's just how biology works.

We live in a Stalinist society, a society where paranoia is constantly pumped up to keep many afraid and others snifing for blood. "Racism" for us is "sabotage", "subversion", and "Trotskyism" for Russia in the 30's- meaningless phrases used to justify oppression.

In my definition-

"Stalinism is not a political or governmental system of any sort. It is a rhetorical style. A rhetorical style that when matched with a totalitarian system creates havoc but nonetheless merely a rhetorical system.

"First you have a party line, the official position of the party, what’s correct and what’s right. All parties have party lines, even if many of the members don’t really follow them. Stalinism is different in the way deviation is handled. Under Stalinism deviation from the party line, however slight, however expressed, is evidence that the deviator is not merely a bad party member, or uneducated, or of a different but psooibly reasonable position, but an actual enemy of the party. the evils that can then be attributed to this person are then limited only by the imagination."

Non-whites should realize that white males might be scum but they're responsible for every major innovation of the last 500 years and at the very least they give non-whites access to opportunity and a higher standard of living unlike "people of color" or the "fair sex".

I think the racism which non-whites consider ubiquitous is mostly the result of a few things.

1. Hierarchy, status, and posturing. These are better classified as class issues but given the truth of HBD they often take on a racial component. It's not like lower class whites aren't made to feel like shit either but nobody considers that.

2. Well meaning but unintentionally offensive remarks naive sheltered whites make in relation to non-whites. Such as asking the one black guy at the party "what is the black position on this issue" this type of question/statement disparages a person's individuality.

Actually similar obligations go on men too.

"After all, the fact that men can't have kids is a sexist fact. "

So it's 'my body my choice'.
And 'men should take paternity leave' too or some way in which we can have equality.

Regardless of whether it's "sexism" or not, it's similar to "whitey can't jump" and "whitey keeping a honest brotha down" so we need AA.

"white men are panicking at the loss of primacy and unearned privilege"

They kinda deserved it? And loss of victimhood primacy and unearned privilege is what fears and drives these "oppressed" groups.

Racism is a word created by Leon Trotsky to place the onus of ethical out-group treatment onto the dominant population of whites while placing no similar expectation onto non-whites. There were already terms available to describe racial bigotry, but the beautiful thing about the term racism was that it only applied to the population group of the dominant culture, it was never designed to be applied to minority races who dislike whites. Since the dominant group in the Western world are of European stock, it selectively singles us out for antipathy toward others. It was also unleashed as a tool to further racial division, Cultural Marxism at it's most efficient.

This is why racism is almost universally used in place of bigotry, because it's unilateral. The goal was to prevent whites from expressly seeking their own group interests or arguing against special treatment for non-whites by putting us constantly on the defensive.

The racial hatred toward whites by non-whites gets a pass (and is often validated) every single time that term is used and is often encouraged. That's why the R word has gained so much traction, because it reinforces non-white racial hatred in the same manner the promotion of diversity really means white dispossession, not the many hewed rainbow sold to well-meaning dupes by the multiculturalists.

They knew whites have a conscience and do not want to be inequitable. Since being a racist is about the worst thing you could be, it places whites in a position where they will do just about anything to avoid being called that name. And it also puts whites is a position not to push for their own group's interests because they spend so much time defending against the charge of racism.

Bullshite. The gap in black vs.white and Asian performance isn't due to white irrational racism worth squat any longer. It's because blacks aren't so smart, compared to whites and most of the Asians we let into this country.

Minorities other than NAMs often raise to higher average levels in society than white men. Women do very well in America these days but they don’t generally rise as high as the highest achieving men do 1) because their priorities are somewhat different on average especially once they get married and have children; and 2) because women or at least white women have a narrower variance or standard deviation in IQ than men do, even though men and women have the same average IQs, at higher levels such as say at 125 and up, that are 2x as many men as women who are that smart, and IQ matters at least up to a point, probably up to about 145, in most elite level jobs.

The main reason blacks don’t do as well as whites, N.E. Asians and the Indians we let into this country is that they are a lot less smart, probably mostly for genetic reasons, with some cultural and environmental feedback from the starting genetic differences in IQ. People like to exercise and practice what their best at, and for most blacks that’s not doing really well in school compared to whites or Asians, or solving puzzles of various sorts, and reading a lot whether on the internet or books, etc.

They and the left just love to demonize whites, especially white men, for their own relative non competitiveness. Basically they've been taught to do this by the white left all their lives, through schools, the media, etc.

What “racism” there is among whites in the upper quarter of society, who are in a position to advance or thwart the high success of employees, is no longer irrational prejudice that’s over generalized to all blacks, but a familiarity with the IQ and crime statistics in some cases, and in others just observing who tends to do the best and most conscientious job and who has the worst attitudes, relative performance in schools and college, etc. Most whites in such positions know there are blacks who are smart and conscientious with good attitudes, but that there are also contrary tendencies. The existence of affirmative action means that blacks in a given university are generally not competitive with most whites there. This naturally leaves an impression on all non blacks as well.

Knowing and speaking the truth can’t be racist, by any reasonable definition of that term.

Not exactly inferior. Morally inferior perhaps.

Really it’s more to keep white people on the defensive, and deferential on racial conflict and PC matters, and to not blame blacks collectively for their own short comings. Break PC even a little and we’ll shame you as being a racist.

Doesn’t work on me. Well I know it can be job dangerous in the real world off the anonymous net.

That “should” is not something NAM’s are gonna honor when together they’re the political majority, which on current rates of illegal and not stopped or deportant, and “family reunification” legal immigration, will happen by about 2045.

Affirmative action and disparate impact tests of “job discrimination”, and transfer payments to NAMs, will get worse not better.

Now is the time to start reversing these things.

White men most definitely earned their privilege in the US. They built the most privileged nation in the history of the world out of a primitive matriarchy with a life expectancy of ten or 15 years maximum.

All the minorities, until raised up by whites, lived in dire straits. Find out for yourself just how the native Africans lived.

Find out how the Native Americans lived. But, especially the Aztecs and Mayas.

Only extreme racists can deny the contribution of the white men.

Somewhere along the line the idea of accepting hard truths became racist. I'm sure there are people out there who actually believe a black guy could never invent anything. But that is not what the alt-right is getting at. They merely ask for results. Affirmative action and its kind of programs ask you to never ask for results. Blacks want the rewards without demonstrating the hard work. That is what the modern race game is about.

When a football team refines its offense or defense it does so not to account for the linebacker or running back, but to account for Ray Lewis or Paul Hornung.

Radical liberalism "euphemizes" this "refinement" in its offense and defense. It "refines" its offense and defense by deploying increasingly nebulous and unknowable locutions SO AS TO DECEIVE its target of its true aims.

"Racism" and "Sexism" are not attacks on the white male per se, they are attacks on "white Supremacy" with the intended effect being that no white males SEEK TO BE A "white Supremacist." These euphemized locutions are deployed against WHAT THE LIBERATIONIST fears most, white Supremacy. A standard set that has no real earthly rival. A particular thing with a particular meaning. To the liberationist of whatever bent, having to be something particular or having to abide by particular things is a reason to self-annihilate. The white male is largely just an unsuspecting proxy for this assault by the radical liberationist. The anti-Supremacy. The slave to "equality."

There are really only two players in this game. The radical autonomist and the "white" Supremacist. "Racism" and "sexism" are just the radical autonomist's main mechanism of action in defending and/or expanding his radical autonomy.

More like rule by the strongest (and in some regions, most talented) male cousin/brother of the group. That cousin/brother was not a feminist; rather a polygynistic under-age niece raper. Oh and BTW, he hits "*legally" --and sometimes kills "*legally" -- that wife/niece when they fight too. [*he's the law after all]

(If that's matriarchy, sign me up.)

That male, as a consequence of victory, claims the most and best (looking) females.

As side effect of that, that leader male ("Ubermensch") will --_in time of peace and hunting-plenty_(ie when the tribe doesn't need his skills)-- be conspired against by *underling **jealous males (*"untermensch" and their **"ressentiment") .

That ["ressentiment"] is what builds civilization/ liberalism.

That whole scene is called the "alpha beta gamma principle" (ie beta led coup d eta); it snowballs along, leading to each new coup d eta revolution. (That snowball is part of man's evolution itself: it is why humans don't have big brow ridges and large canines anymore for starters.) That is why humans have 1) brains 2) civilization 3) democracy 4) *liberalism/*feminism. (*The end result --so far-- of the untermensch's "slave morality" trumping the ubermensch's "hero morality".) 1, 2, 3, and 4 are all part of the same snowball, unfortunately; that is why it is so hard to stop any one facet of this snowball we are all on. Go to my site and learn.

"Ubermensch", "untermensch", "ressentiment", "slave morality", "hero morality"... Race types quote Nietzsche often enough: it is time you learned what he was actually talking about. [eye roll] Hint: he wasn't talking about the different races; but rather what is happening inside a tribe that leads to liberalism("slave morality") --what I term, 'cause I am more of a scientist than Nietzsche, the "alpha beta gamma principle": the actual mechanism for how underling "ressentiment" manifests itself politically over the generations/evolutionarily.

I sort of doubt anyone believe Nietzsche was talking about races, but I also highly doubt he was talking about alpha / beta. Alpha and beta don't matter. If they did, one of you weirdos would have defined them by now, in a way that made sense. "Alpha = irritating male slut" is not compatible with "alpha = confident leader of men". Work that out.

I've actually thought of this too. It's rather unbelievable that perhaps the greatest dunker since Jordan has white skin. (He's half-black IIRC.)

I guess I sort of consider him a mix because he's just too light-skinned and has reddish hair for me to consider him just black. I do consider some biracial people just black (like Obama or Malcolm X, even Jeremiah Wright), but he's got too much of each, in equal proportions, to have a specific race. I'd say this is pretty rare and usually only happens with 3/4 white and 1/4 black, like Kim Kardashian's ex-husband.

“You can ignore reality but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.” --Ayn Rand.

That sums up one response to her screed. She simply can not deal with the real world so must look for otherworldly explanations.

"Racism" and "sexism" take on mystical overtones, being forces which supposedly permeate all of society, yet can be found nowhere on the plane of reality. Despite the civil rights and feminist movements getting everything they have demanded for half a century, despite every institution paying obeisance to the totems of egalitarianism (including Hollywood!), the witch hunt must continue.

Here's another point: "success" is being defined as performing at the same level as white (and Asian?) males. But the type of civilization produced by them (industrialization, political democracy, consumerism, mass media, etc.) is a rare event in history. From a logical standpoint, it would seem that the median level of civilization on this planet would be the standard for aspiring actresses. That is, the performance of "blacks and women" ought to be up to second world standards. Of course, they can not even create that. I'll go out on a limb here and note that the female headed minority households of America's inner cities shows what kind of civilization people like this woman can produce.

We might note that polities which have eliminated white people, such as Zimbabwe, Haiti or Detroit, and thus presumably eliminate the source of racism (and sexism and etc.), ought to be paradises of equality and progress. Oddly enough, this does not seem to be the case, though I am sure the multicult's ideologues will have no problem in ginning up a suitable response.

What it really comes down to is that a multicultural society will not work. Individuals who are members of groups which can not compete are going to cook up ideologies which will shift the blame for their own failures onto whites and/or men. Of course, this works because whites and/or men refuse to state the obvious in public: "Reality is 'racist' and 'sexist'."

"To common medieval imagination, and to such men as Gregory the Great, the Devil was no figure of speech but a life and blood reality, prowling about everywhere, suggesting temptations and creating all kinds of evil ... The Devil had an immense cohort of assistant demons, who hovered around every soul and persistently maneuvered to lead it into sin. ... The monk Richalm described them as 'filling the whole world; the whole air is but a thick mass of devils, always and everywhere in wait for us ... it is marvelous that any one of us should be alive; were it not for God's grace, no one of us could escape.'"

(Will Durant, describing one aspect of medieval religion in The Age of Faith.)

Our modern faith of multiculturalism or political correctness has its own demonology. Racism is the Original Sin of a fallen race (white men). Racists are demons who lurk everywhere, tempting every soul. Only the absolution of priests (magic Negroes) can lift the burden of the Original Sin, but such absolution can only be given following confession of racism and penitence (welfare, affirmative action, reparations).

It will last as long as white people believe in it. When they stop believing in the racial theology, it will vanish like dew after sunrise.
