He doesn't raise the level of the audience, he entertains then with the audacity of his interviews and his questions. What really exposed his true nature for me was when I found that he can't take criticism.
He'll happily roast some other guy. But when he or his family is on the chopping block, he gets hysterical.

I dunno, I'm able to laugh at some of this stuff, but then step back and find it outrageous. Candid videos on YouTube of people engaging in stupid or destructive behavior is comedy unto itself, and I definitely laugh at much of what I watch. Much of it is far funnier than anything actually intended as comedy, and perhaps Daniel Tosh based his entire act upon it due to a recognition of it. While I laugh at it, I later step away from it and say, "Holy shit, this is horrifying! How are we going to maintain a civilization with a population who engages in this behavior?"

I saw that bit and thought it was very funny. Comedy is about twisting things and pushing boundries. Sit and bitch and moan about how low brow things are these days but as someone already mentioned Lenny Bruce. Comedy has always pushed boundries it has always reflected the current culture in a more raw format. It makes things normally very uncomfortable something to laugh at.

My only problem with the joke is that it's just plain unfunny and uncreative. There's no logic to it. Blind people don't typically rape their mothers or anyone else. If it's because his mommy's hot, it doesn't matter since he can't tell.
I tried to come up with something funny about the premise but couldn't. The ingredients just aren't there, ie no logical connection.
I guess the comedian just wanted to mention it because it was topical. It's the low-hanging fruit of comedy to name-drop; it's the equivalent of yelling "XYZ Team rules!" at a local gathering.
I have a friend who writes for a comedy magazine at an elite university. The magazine writers are in touch with Harvard's Lampoon and other campus magazines. The startling thing is, no one reads them. The vast majority of their output is esoteric, absurdist humor that has no mainstream appeal. It's the comedic equivalent of penis waving and no one's watching. It's so other comics can say "ha, that's clever" even though no one laughs.
You might like Sebastian Maniscalco. He's got a little conservative bent to him.
Demetri Martin is great for clever, pithy humor, a la Mitch Hedberg and Emo Philips.

If you watch the show you'd see him frequently imply that he's gay. He also implies that he's straight. I think he knows he's on the edge and so cultivates that as a defense.
The second (and more important reason) is that he's not just making jokes about hatefacts - he's commenting on videos. Everyone can see the videos. It's probably better not to call attention to Tosh by demonizing him since anyone can watch thousands of videos that are almost the same.
The third thing (and this is much more speculative) is that the culture has changed hugely and it's now acceptable to view blacks as (more) violent and less intelligent.
Why? Well, progressives don't really need them anymore. Everyone knows too much now. You can't destroy neighborhoods or create crime waves the way they (progressives) did in the 60s and 70s using blacks as pawns because everyone knows the truth (even if they pretend not to). On top of that there's a new huge group that can be depended on to be low IQ and therefore cheap clients for the progressive state. That's really what progressivism is all about - creating clients so the middle class can't ever vote the end of the permanent bureaucracy.

I met the editor of an "underground" campus humor magazine and had a chance to read several issues - for the most part very highbrow, ironic stuff that would definitely not appeal to, say, the "Late Show" or Howard Stern crowd. I have to agree with Dominion. Pornography doesn't have anything to do with this. Plenty of people who aren't prudes still find comedian's race to the bottom disgusting - especially if it involves handicapped children. Plus the joke isn't even funny in a guilt-inducing "I shouldn't laugh" kind of way (what does blindness have to do with incest?)

1) I doubt the Blue Collar comedy tour does anything closely resembling The Aristocrats or making jokes about anal sex or incest. It's crass, but sitcom innuendo, not comedy club explicitness.
2) I've stated before that left-wing politics, primarily the glorification of incontinence, is a status symbol for middle and upper class whites, but not something they want their daughters actually exhibiting. So the left-wing paradigm of normalizing dysfunction has primarily affected lower class individuals who have actually bought into it (see marriage rates by class and education levels).
Speaking of disgusting comedy, I was channel flipping (at someone's house who has cable) and jumped right into the middle of Sara Silverman doing her comedy.

Yes, I love Frank Zappa for just that reason--his cleverness. His LP, Fillmore East--June 1871 in which he spoofs egotistical rock stars and their groupies is really explicit and vulgar. It's also hilarious as he and "the girls" use that explicitness and vulgarity to ridicule some of the excesses of whole rock phenomenon.

Louis CK has talked about his Jewish heritage before in interviews. When he talks about "us" white people getting fucked, he's not talking about himself, or Jews. He's talking about what he imagines regular white people to be like getting fucked. He's a complete far-left philosemitic loon that fundamentally does not identify with 'white people', and that is where that joke is coming from. It's not bean counting. Louis CK's routine is in the same vein as ultra-heeb Tim "White Like Me" Wise.
Daniel Tosh's entire routine is based on him being an upper-class straight white Christian male. Watching his standup makes this more clear. His racist jokes are shielded to a certain extent by the whole meta-joke of Tosh being a naively and unwittingly bigoted upperclass twit himself.
He also does tell 'progressive' jokes, such as advocating white college basketball players should earn extra points per basket, since they aren't ever going to make it into the NBA and it will get the black players that never make it in used to never making as much as their white classmates, which he explicitly says is due to white privilege.
He also frequently mocks middle American whites, playing up his wealthy background and classist credentials.
He's still funny imo, but those racist jokes and even the jokes about his questionable sexuality are about pointing a finger at and mocking the kind of guy that Tosh's character represents as well.

I absolutely agree that it's wrong as it's mostly mothers who sexually abuse their children so it is really wrong on both points..
I can not believe such smart people can be so dumb. The Aristocrats movie was filmed because of an old tradition between comdedians. The idea was to tell a very dirty joke as long as you can to add to it make it more distrubing then the next guy.
This didn't translate well to film sort of like recorded roasts lose the privacy factor and never live up to the reputation of the roasts that were private.
